Data protection

Foreword

The protection of your data is very important to me – even without the DSGVO. I tried to create this website (as well as the program basequation itself) so that as little data as possible is collected. Therefore, this website consistently dispenses with some features such as comments, contact forms and certain social media buttons. I’ve gone to great lengths to avoid all data collection, but since the site was created using the very complex CMS WordPress, I can not guarantee every detail.

This site runs on WordPress using the theme Maxwell and is hosted by Strato. Automatic updates may result in changes, e.g. that any part of the software incorporates Google services again. I can not completely rule that out, but try to prevent it.

So if anything seems unusual to you, please do not hesitate to contact me so I can put it off quickly.

What personal data is collected – and why?

Cookies

Cookies are small information text files that are stored by a website on your computer and are read out during the current or later visits to a website. If you have a WordPress account and sign up for this site, WordPress will set a temporary cookie to see if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal information and will be discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, WordPress will set up some cookies to store your login and viewing options. Log-in cookies expire after two days and cookies for display options after one year. If you select “Stay signed in” when signing up, your registration will be maintained for two weeks. Logging out of your account will delete the login cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this site may contain embedded content (eg videos, pictures, posts, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves just as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking services, and record your interaction with this embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to this website.

I have therefore made an effort to largely dispense with embedded content. I use a special plugin to keep fonts local, so that your IP is not revealed to a third party while retrieving a font.

WordPress account information

According to WordPress, users who register on the site also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can view, modify or delete their personal information at any time (the username can not be changed). I also seem to be able to see and modify this (public) information.

Analysis services

I do not (knowingly) use any analysis services, but the domain provider Strato automatically creates log files for statistical purposes, which I seemingly cannot suppress at the moment. According to the company, however, your IP will be anonymised and stored for a limited time only. The procedure is explained in more detail on this Strato page, General information about log data and DSGV at Strato can be found on this page of the company.

I use Antispam Bee as an anti-spam plugin because it’s designed specifically for privacy and privacy.

With whom do I share your data?

Of course, I do not intentionally share your information with third parties and make the best possible precautions not to do that unintentionally (which is why I try to collect as little data as possible). Of course, as Internet traffic passes through Strato, this company sees your IP and the pages you have selected on my domain. With the plugin Snitch, I occasionally examine which connections originate from my site in order to detect any data leaks. But I’m not a network expert.

Mails to my address go to my email server at Strato.

What rights do you have to your data?

You can always request an export of all personal data from me, including all data that you have communicated to me. In addition, you may request the deletion of any personal information I have stored about you. This does not include the data that I need to keep for administrative, legal or security-related needs.
